Flood Watch Canceled For Metro Atlanta
Several Metro Creeks Under Flood Warnings

ATLANTA -- The flood watch for metro Atlanta was canceled late Wednesday afternoon, but flood warnings continue for several area creeks.The warning for Big Creek in Alpharetta runs from now until Friday morning. The National Weather Service said that at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the river was 6.2 feet and rising. The agency said residents can expect minor flooding.Flood stage for Big Creek is 7.0 feet. The creek is forecast to rise above flood stage by Wednesday afternoon and continue to rise to near 8.2 feet after midnight. The creek will fall below flood stage by Friday morning.The flood warning for Suwanee Creek in Gwinnett County runs until Thursday morning. Flood stage for Suwanee Creek is 8.0 feet. The creek is forecast to rise above flood stage by Wednesday night and continue to rise to near 8.2 feet after midnight. The creek will fall below flood stage by early Thursday.Flooding was also reported at the intersection of Juniper and 5th streets in midtown Atlanta.A flood warning was also issued for the north fork of Peachtree Creek. The National Weather Service said that at 1 p.m. Wednesday, the stage was 11.1 feet, and rising. The creek's flood stage is 12.0 feet. The creek will reach flood stage this afternoon and will provide minor flooding.
