There is a slight chance of showers and flurries in metro Atlanta Thursday evening thanks to a fast-moving weather system that will move across Georgia.
It is more likely that Atlanta will not see any precipitation. The latest models continue to show it mainly cloudy in Atlanta Thursday, with a 20% chance of precipitation.
The chance of showers and flurries will be between 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. Thursday evening.
If precipitation develops, it will start as showers with a mix of showers and flurries after sunset.
Very little precipitation is expected due to dry air in the city. Accumulations would be very light through north Georgia into the mountains. In addition, temperatures will be above freezing during the precipitation, so no accumulations are expected in Metro Atlanta.
Black ice Thursday night
Any precipitation that does fall Thursday evening will freeze after 10 p.m. Thursday night. This will create patches of black ice Thursday night through Friday morning.
