People across Metro Atlanta spent Thursday digging their way out of ice-covered neighborhoods.
Many offered a helping hand to their neighbors, like David Sears of Marietta. Sears shoveled not just his driveway, but his neighbor's, Dorothy Wade's.
"It's wonderful. I can't shovel; I'm too old, and so is my husband," said Wade.
Others spent the day retrieving their cars, abandoned on side streets Tuesday night. David Tallifer made it off of the interstate but couldn't navigate up his steep, icy street home. "We were on this road for an hour alone, and we decided to pull over at the park and hike up the hill," said Tallifer.
The park Tallifer referred to was Merritt Park in Marietta. By mid-morning Thursday, it still looked like a parking lot, with stranded cars.
Most people in Cobb County neighborhoods said they planned to return to work Friday.
