As of Saturday morning, Atlanta police had not made any arrests in a bold smash-and-grab involving half-a-million dollars worth of jewelry.
According to Sergeant Greg Lyon, five or six men entered Mayors Jewelers inside Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead around 6:30 p.m. Friday. A couple of the men then used hammers to smash a jewelry case. In less than 30 seconds, the crooks grabbed at least 20 Rolex watches.
An employee chased them outside and told police they escaped in a white van, later found abandoned near the mall.
Police were reviewing surveillance video.
