Storm Reports in North Georgia from June 13, 2013
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Severe thunderstorms moved through North Georgia on Thursday, producing heavy rain, lightning and very strong winds.
Over 20 storms reports were submitted to the National Weather Service Thursday evening from North Georgia, most of which were for damaging thunderstorm winds. A few hail reports were also submitted.
CBS Atlanta's exclusive WeatherBug network clocked maximum wind gusts near 60 mph Thursday as the storms moved through. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when winds reach 58 mph.
The storms also produced up to an inch of rain in some locations.
Most areas saw severe thunderstorm warnings as strong winds blew through. A tornado warning was briefly issued for Cobb, Cherokee and North Fulton counties when a brief area of rotation was detected on radar south of Canton.
