DETROID (AP) -

A man suspended from a Detroit-area university for writing about his attraction to teachers in a journal dubbed "Hot For Teacher" has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $2 million and four class credits.

Joseph Corlett says his First Amendment rights were violated by Oakland University officials, who suspended him last year for violating the Rochester school's intimidation policy.

The 57-year-old Corlett was enrolled in a writing class when he compared his female instructor to Ginger, a sultry movie starlet character on the 1960s TV show "Gilligan's Island." He also wrote about other teachers. The lawsuit filed Friday calls the writings "whimsical exaggeration."

Corlett says his previous essay about breasts earned an A from the same teacher. He now lives in Sarasota, Fla.

Oakland declined to comment on the lawsuit.
