Two men arrested for the assault of an elderly man made their first appearance before a Clayton County judge Saturday.
Police arrested two men, one who they said confessed to taking part in a violent kidnapping and robbery that landed a 69-year-old victim in the hospital earlier this week. Police still want to find their accomplices.
Police keep a constant presence along Atlanta South Parkway in College Park, where the co-owner of J & D Trucking was kidnapped.
"Everybody here was really shocked. I've worked here for 23 years and we've never seen this kind of violence," Jeff Robinson said.
News of the brutal attack spread to neighboring businesses. It happened Monday morning as the victim got out of his truck at work.
"He was approached by five black males who actually then robbed him, kidnapped him, forced him into their vehicle," Maj. Johnny Robinson said.
Police say two of the men drove him to a Chevron gas station to withdraw money.
"They discussed if they wanted to kill him or not and shortly after, let him out and began kicking and punching him," Maj. Johnny Robinson said.
Surveillance video from the store led police to the Amberwood Apartments. They arrested David Starks and Frederick Anderson.
"I'm really glad they're on the ball and rounding a few people up. I hope these guys will name names and we can get the rest of them," Jeff Robinson said.
The whole ordeal left nearby employees shaken.
"It's horrible. It could have been any one of us because we get to work at six in the morning," Lakeisha Taylor said.
Starks and Anderson are charged with kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle, armed robbery and aggravated assault and battery. Police said Anderson has a lengthy criminal history and a known gang affiliation.
The judge denied bond for Starks and Anderson.
