Atlanta police are investigating after two students reported seeing a naked man driving down the 200 block of Lawton Street.
The teenage girls, who are sisters, were on their way to Booker T. Washington High School.
Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee said the man, in his 50s, driving a silver or gray 4-door sedan (possibly a Toyota
Camry), slowed down his car with his passenger window rolled down as he
approached the girls. The man then gestured just enough to get the girls
to focus their eyes near his private parts.
"These were 15 and 17-year-old females that a man with no pants on touching himself. That's something that's very concerning to us," said Chafee.
Investigators said the sisters were bothered enough to call their mother and she encouraged them to call police.
Tarlisha Williams, who lives in the area, is not surprised by the girl's claims.
She told CBS Atlanta News that in recent days a man approached her asking for directions and that he began acting strangely after she told him she wasn't from the area.
"He drove around in circles like three or four times. And he turned back around and asked for a light. I said, 'I don't have a light. You have a lighter inside the car with you.' And he kept riding," said Williams.
That man didn't expose himself. But Williams believes he was up to no good.
She hopes police will catch the man who approached the young sisters for their sake and for other young girls who could be next.
"I have a niece around the young girl's age. If it came it came to my niece, I would be devastated," said Williams.
Investigators said the suspect's gray or silver sedan also has chrome wheels and tinted windows.
Police are asking anyone with information to cal 911 or call crime stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS.
