Rep. Waites to honor fallen Metro Atlanta police officers

ATLANTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

State representatives Keisha Waites, D-Atlanta, and Charles Gregory, R-Kennesaw, will recognize the lives of three fallen Metro Atlanta police officers during the legislative session Monday.

At the ceremony, the following officers will be honored:

Atlanta police officers Richard Halford and Shawn Smiley, who lost their lives in a helicopter crash that occurred November 2012.

Clayton police officer Shawn Callahan, who was shot shortly after joining the police department.

Monday's ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.

The public is welcome to view the commemoration of the fallen officers from the public gallery on the fourth floor of the Georgia State Capitol.
