Single-vehicle crash kills 1 in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Authorities have released the name of the driver killed in a Sunday afternoon wreck in Cherokee County.

Luca Garovi, 28, of Orcutt, CA, was traveling north on I-575 at Lower Bethany Road at about 12:50 p.m., according to Georgia State Patrol.

Garovi's 2002 Ford Explorer left the roadway on the right side and struck a bridge pillar. The impact killed him.

Authorities said alcohol is not suspected. Garovi was not wearing a seatbelt.
