The Kennesaw Police Department will sponsor a gun safety class Saturday morning.
Participants will learn about basic firearm safety and Georgia gun laws. Free gun locks will also be available, while supplies last.
Attendees should not bring any firearms or weapons to the class.
The class is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ben Robertson Community Center.
Kennesaw made national headlines when it passed an ordinance in the 1980s requiring all heads of household to own a gun. Although not enforced, police estimate more than half of all residents pack heat. The city also boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the state, which some attribute to the unusual ordinance.
