International Women's Day celebrated around the world

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Friday is International Women's day, which has been observed since in the early 1900s.

Internationalwomensday.com was founded in 2001 as a non-profit philanthropic venture dedicated to keeping International Women's Day alive and growing.

According to their website, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements.

The International Women's Think Tank celebrated its second International Women's Day with an empowering conference at Atlanta Metropolitan College.

Even Google recognized the day by changing their search doodle.
