A cat that was found frozen to a garbage pail in Sioux City, IA, last December has a new home. When the cat was first taken to the Siouxland Animal Shelter and Rescue, he was severely emaciated, thin and dehydrated. Volunteers treated the cat with a heating pad and gave him food. They named him Rocky Balboa.
Gail Bancroft, who lives hundreds of miles away in Bethesda, MD, heard about Rocky and decided to adopt him.
Bancroft said she looks forward to continuing to care for the cat.
"He's a cat who's in need. He probably needs a little bit of rehabilitation. That's what we like to do," said Bancroft.
Last year, Bancroft adopted a cat named Jonas, who was found frozen to a manhole cover in Sioux City and lost a leg.
