Pothole Patrol: GDOT's big fix

Posted: Updated:
DOUGLASVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Pothole Patrol would like to thank Georgia's Department of Transportation for installing a new safety curb at a railroad crossing in Douglasville.

Pothole Patrol has been trying for more than a year to get Norfolk Southern to do something to reduce the number of accidents at the crossing.

Drivers misjudge the slope and the drop off almost daily.

There have been more than two dozen documented incidents of cars and trucks getting stuck on the tracks.

Two drivers escaped moments before their cars were destroyed by oncoming trains.

After meeting with Douglasville city leaders and Norfolk Southern, GDOT agreed to purchase a curbing system that would keep cars and trucks off the tracks.
