ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Atlanta Police Department arrested a man in connection to a string of robberies.

William Berry, 37, was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart on Howell Mill Road on Feb. 1.

Berry was attempting to steal a pellet gun and a pair of black gloves, according to officers.

The officer who arrested Jones realized that he matched the description of a man that had been targeting other businesses.

Berry was also carrying a backpack full of clothing that matched the description of items worn by the robbery suspect from a Subway sandwich shop robbery in January, according to reports.

Berry has been charged with committing armed robbery at two Walgreens stores, Radioshack, Mattress Firm and a Subway shop.

All the incidents happened in January in the Midtown and Buckhead area.

Photo lineups were conducted and Berry was positively identified as the person responsible for committing the five robberies.
