DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Two train collisions and dozens of accidents later, the Georgia Department of Transportation has decided that it's time to make a change.
This week, a spokesperson for GDOT confirmed that it will install a safety barrier at the Mozely Road railroad crossing near downtown Douglasville.
For over a year, Pothole Patrol has been putting pressure on Norfolk Southern to make changes at the crossing.
Drivers misjudge the turn and the slope almost daily. Once cars get stuck on the tracks, it's very difficult to get out.
In January, after a second train versus car collision, Douglasville's mayor and police chief spoke up about the situation. After several meetings, GDOT agreed to install the system.
The cost to taxpayers is less than $5,000.
