Former trooper indicted in crash that killed Braves trainer's wife

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A former Georgia State Trooper accused of causing a deadly crash in the line of duty has been indicted by a Fulton County Grand Jury.

Trooper First Class Donald Crozier was indicted Tuesday in connection with the Dec. 31, 2011 death of Kathy Porter, 54, wife of Braves Trainer Jeff Porter.

The crash happened on while the Porter family and a family friend were on their way to the Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome.

Crozier was on his way to a call when he struck the Porter's 2006 Ford Expedition, driven by Jeff Porter, at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Memorial Drive.

Kathy Porter died at the scene as a result of her injuries. Her husband, the couple's son and a family friend were injured.

Crozier was terminated after the crash. He is charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, reckless driving and violation of oath by public officer.
