Eric Demons
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A man suspected in a hit-and-run accident that killed a woman in Atlanta faced a judge on Wednesday.
Eric Demons, 40, was given a $25,000 bond. His next court date is set for March 13.
Demons was arrested by fugitive units at 580 University Ave. on Tuesday.
Police say Demons struck Cassandra Head, 53, who was in a crosswalk, on Feb. 20.
It happened around 6 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near Bakers Ferry Road.
Demons is charged with homicide by vehicle, hit-and-run, failure to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk, and driving on suspended license.
Head's daughter-in-law, Felisa Wilkins, told CBS Atlanta News that Head had five adult children and 16 grandchildren.
She said family members, particularly Head's grandchildren, took the news hard.
