A Clayton County tribunal panel heard testimony on Tuesday regarding the recommended firing of Genghis Shakhan.
Shakhan became the assistant principal at Riverdale High School in the 2012-2013 school year. He's been on paid administrate leave for the past month.
The school district recommended Shakhan be fired for using excessive force on students. Before he can be terminated, the tribunal panel must hear testimony about the alleged force.
"It troubled me that we had three allegations of undue physical force with this educator within a three-day working period," Personnel Review Officer Teresa Reese said.
Reese investigated the allegations against Shakhan.
"I determined it was not appropriate," Reese said.
All of the complaints about force came in October. Reese said Shakhan didn't respond when she asked him this: "It appears when you make contact with the students, that's when situation becomes negative or adverse. So as a result of that, are you looking at that, are you considering that? Why are you continuing to touch the students, because it seems to escalate."
Coach Tommy Ector testified about an incident in the cafeteria he witnessed.
"He had the young lady, he had his arm around her here," he said.
He went on to describe the action by Shakhan, saying, "Coming over her shoulder, coming around her arm as he was walking her toward the front of the cafeteria to exit."
A custodian testified about what she saw. She felt Shakhan was trying to diffuse the situation.
"He put his hand behind her and tried to move her along. At that time she really got agitated and started to swing and fight and stuff and then he, Mr. Shakhan, just tried to hold her hand from swinging," Neomi Christian said.
Shakhan's attorney, Borquaye Thomas, said they feel good about the way testimony is going. Testimony will continue on Friday.
