ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The Atlanta Hawks get a slam dunk with a program that's teaching kids about financial responsibility.
Hawks player John Jenkins visited the Bellwood Boys and Girls Club in northwest Atlanta Thursday night. He's helping in what's called the Stock Market Games.
The Hawks have teamed up with Bank of America and Merrill Lynch for this 10-week program.
"I think it's very important because we use that stuff in our everyday lives. So, us using it and being able to convey our thoughts to them is very big," said Jenkins.
The team challenge is made up of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. The children also come from the Fuqua and Peachcrest Boys and Girls Clubs.
The Atlanta Hawks are also donating $2,500 to each of the participating clubs.
