A small group met at Saint Paul AME Church in southeast Atlanta to take a stand after a recent school shooting.
Two weeks ago, police said a student shot another student at Price Middle School. Telvis Douglas, 14, was injured when a bullet hit the back of his neck.
Police just released the 911 call that reveals the fear and chaos of what was happening inside the school.
"I need someone at Price Middle School. I need them, I need an ambulance. I need an ambulance at Price Middle. I have a student shot!" said one 911 caller.
"I don't know what happened. The baby came to the office. Another student had a gun on campus," said a 911 caller.
Officers said they do not know if Telvis Douglas was the intended target. But a newly released police report said the accused shooter and victim were in rival gangs that they were in an ongoing feud. Police have not released the accused shooter's name because they're concerned about retaliation.
The school's principal told the group at the church what the school is dealing with are families in crisis. The community leaders and pastors who led the gathering said parents and adults need to get involved with the students to prevent them from entering gangs.
The meeting's attendees committed to coaching basketball and reestablishing a mentoring program with the school. They are also spreading the message that the nearby churches are safe havens if kids need someone to talk with about their problems.
