Changes to Georgia's car tax go into effect March 1

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

In just a couple of weeks, buying a new car in Georgia will cost you more at the time of sale, but nothing as the years pass by.

Changes to the state motor vehicle tax go into effect March 1.

The so called "birthday" car tax will go away. New car owners will pay a one-time state and local title tax.
