The final defendant facing charges in the shooting death of an 11-year-old pleaded guilty and will spend the rest of his life in prison.
On February 11, 2010 Nicholas Sheffey, 11, was sleeping in his bedroom at his Chamblee home. He was hit by a bullet intended for his older brother, according to police.
Officers arrested Cody Bauer and two other teens for the murder. Police said they found the handgun used in the shooting and arrested Bauer within 24 hours of the crime.
On Friday, Bauer, now 21, pleaded guilty to all charges and the judge sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus, an additional life sentence and 675 years. Police said Bauer is a member of the Crips gang. He was charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and illegal gang activity.
Alexander Sidloskas and Stedmund Anthony were previously sentenced to 50 years, 25 years in prison and the rest on probation.
