The Atlanta Police Department brought charges against six men in a recent wave of carjackings metro Atlanta since late last year.
Investigators are also looking at the possibility they may be involved in armed pedestrian robberies as well.
Police arrested Ladarious Gibbs, 21, Derek Turner, 19, Brandon Washington, 21, Andre Clark, 24, Rapheal Banks, 24, and Ronald Washington, 21.
The Atlanta Police Department worked cooperatively with investigators from other law enforcement agencies throughout the metro Atlanta area to apprehend and charge these men.
Gibbs and Turner were arrested in Cobb County to face charges there. Banks was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol on a Cobb County case, but is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
Clark and both Washingtons are also being held in the Fulton County Jail.
"These are significant arrests, because carjacking is a violent crime that often leads to even more dangerous crimes," said Lt. Paul Guerrucci, commander of APD's Homicide Unit, where the Complex Case Squad resides. "Getting these men off the streets will make Atlanta, and the metro area, a safer place, without question. We are thankful for the cooperation, not only within APD among our many investigators, but also with our partner agencies across the metro area."
All of the men face additional charges in Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.
