"American Sniper” author shot dead

FORT WORTH, TX (AP) -

Former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, author of the best-seller "American Sniper", was shot dead at a Texas gun range.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Stephenville Empire-Tribune reported that Kyle and a second man were found dead Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses said a gunman shot the men and then took off in the victims' pickup. Police later took a man, 25, into custody. The motive remained unclear.
