Some uncooperative witnesses are making things difficult for DeKalb County police.
Officers still don't have any suspects in a shootout over the weekend on Creekside Place near Decatur.
DeKalb police have brought in their gang unit to look into the possibility that the shooting was between two rival gangs.
Beyond that possibility, officials don't have much to go on despite the fact that residents reported to have heard roughly 50 shots in a crowd of dozens of people.
The normally quiet neighborhood is still a little shaken by what happened over the weekend and the damage left behind on five different houses is a vivid reminder.
"It was just so violent. We had to get down on the floor in the kitchen. It just sounded like a war going on, like a war. I've never heard anything like that in my life," said one resident who didn't want to be identified.
So far, no one's talking to police and that includes the three people who were shot.
"The victims were withholding their names, but we do know that one is a 16-year-old female and two males ages 18 and 19," said Mekka Parish, with the DeKalb County Police Department.
Residents said that's really not all that surprising, especially if they're gang members, but they said that doesn't make it right. They want someone to step up and talk.
"The reason they should is because they can not only help the community, but help themselves and help their friend who was doing the crime and get them help. Those types of people do need help," said one resident.
But with the suspects still on the loose there's always the risk of more violence and not just in this neighborhood. It could pop up anywhere.
"These people travel everywhere so we should all be concerned whether you're in Buckhead, Decatur, or East Point. We shouldn't have a different level of fear when something happens in another neighborhood and there's no suspect. We should all be concerned," said the resident.
DeKalb police said they still have witnesses to interview and a lot of times people who are too scared to speak up right away, often change their mind a few days later.
