DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Firefighters in DeKalb County put out a fire that started on Bouldercrest Road on Saturday.
The fire began in a third floor unit at the Paradise East Apartments. Neighbors say they evacuated quickly but were saddened to learn the people inside required medical attention.
"I was sleep and I heard my mom saying 'fire' and at that point, I jumped up and ran outside," resident Patricia Ham said.
DeKalb County Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Jeff Crump said, "We had three patients with minor burns and smoke inhalation, two adults, one child. No other apartments were affected."
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause. They are focusing their attention on the living room.
