Georgia's unemployment rate runs higher than that of the national average, but one high-tech company is bringing new job to the area.
Airwatch, headquartered in north Fulton County, is creating 800 new jobs in metro Atlanta.
Metro Atlanta's unemployment rate hovers around 8.4 percent.
Gov. Nathan Deal said the new jobs can boost the state's economy.
"These are the kind of opportunities that will keep them here," Deal said.
Some of the best colleges and universities call Georgia home, but many students leave the state, in search of high-paying jobs after they graduate.
Deal said Airwatch can help slow the brain drain.
"We educate the young people, they get the degrees they need and they leave our state," Deal said. "They can not only grow up here and get an education in our state but they can stay and get a good paying job and raise future generations of Georgians."
Airwatch makes security software for mobile devices like iPhones and tablets so identity thieves do not steal corporations' and consumers' information.
Chairman Alan Dabbiere said Airwatch is creating well-paying high-tech jobs that give employees a stake in the company.
"Our average payroll is between about $65,000 to $85,000," Dabbiere said. "A lot of our employees have ownership in the company and rising ownership brings another set of revenues into Georgia."
Georgia already has one of the lowest corporate tax rates in the nation. CBS Atlanta asked the deal if the state had to offer incentives to encourage Airwatch to create the new positions.
The governor answered, "…the tax credits we have here fit their needs and that's all that was necessary."
