A Douglas County jury has reached a verdict in the murder trial of Quantez Mallory and Horace Coleman, and has found both guilty of malice murder.
They're the two remaining suspects charged in the beating death of Bobby Tillman, 18, in November 2010.
On Friday, jurors asked the judge to clarify the definitions of malice murder, felony murder and involuntary manslaughter.
Deliberations began Thursday afternoon after closing arguments. Michael Pryor, Mallory's attorney, told jurors he was falsely accused and the state forced people to testify against him.
"I'm a little bit embarrassed to bring this up but the arm twisting that is going on in this case, so that the state can try to put their spin on what happened here," said Pryor.
Two others have already been convicted for Tillman's murder.
Emanuel Boykins admitted he started it all by punching Tillman for no reason. Boykins accepted a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. He is serving a life sentence with parole.
Tracen Franklin took his chance in court. A jury found him guilty but could not agree on whether or not to sentence him to death. A judge sentenced Franklin to life without parole.
"This isn't a theft by shoplifting case. They're going to bring a murder charge with witnesses that they know changed their stories," Pryor told jurors.
Pryor then attacked the state's witnesses.
"The state is bringing this case with their pretty little liars. They are hoping these pretty little girls who have all changed their stories and that tragedy will lead you all to ignore everything else and convict Mr. Mallory of a crime that he didn't commit," Pryor said.
Douglas County prosecutor Brian Fortner shot back.
"For a handful of females to step up and show courage and come in here and tell you the truth. The truth they told that night, the truth they told in their statements, the truth here on the stand and be called 'pretty little liars' is one of the most insulting things I've ever seen in the courtroom," said Fortner.
Monica Myles, Coleman's attorney, also told jurors he is innocent.
"Horace Coleman is here because he was mistakenly identified, mistakenly accused of being one of the guys that attacked Bobby Tillman," Myles said.
The prosecutor put witnesses on the stand who identified what Coleman and Mallory looked like and what they wore the night Tillman was attacked.
"They descended on Bobby Tillman like a pack of wolves. They were cowards. He did nothing to nobody and he deserves better. There was nobody to stand up for him that night. I'm asking you to stand up for him ladies and gentlemen," Fortner said.
Both Mallory and Coleman are scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 4.
