NEWTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Dozens of students and one bus driver were taken to the hospital after a school bus was rear-ended by another bus in Newton County on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. at Rocky Plains Elementary School on Highway 162 South.
A spokesperson for the Newton County School System told CBS Atlanta News that the buses involved were No. 142 and 106.
Between the two buses, 30 students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries by another bus. One student and one of the bus drivers were taken to the hospital with slightly more severe injuries via ambulance, the spokesperson said.
By late Tuesday afternoon, most of the students had been brought back to the school to be picked up by their parents, or were being bused home.
