COLLEGE PARK, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A driver is charged with DUI after he rear-ended one patrol car, pushing it into another officer's car.
Three people were injured in the collision, which happened Sunday at about 7:10 p.m. on Camp Creek Parkway near Washington Road.
Those injured included two College Park officers. Georgia State Patrol identified them as J. W. Deake, 26, and K. Pogorzelski, 28. They were taken to Atlanta Medical Center. They were treated and released.
According to GSP, two College Park police officers were on a traffic stop when one of the patrol cars was struck from the rear by a 2003 Toyota Camry.
The impact pushed the first patrol car into the second. One of the officers was in the first patrol car and the second was on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The Toyota was being driven by Arelious Robert Cooper, 58, from Atlanta. Officers arrested and charged Cooper with DUI, reckless driving and failure to move over when approaching a stopped emergency vehicle.
He was released to the College Park Jail.
A passenger in Cooper's Toyota, Patience Yvonne Hendrix, 47, from Smyrna, was the third victim injured in the collision. She was taken to Grady for treatment.
