HENRY COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA GA) -
A 14-year-old fatally shot his 15-year-old brother early Saturday morning, according to police.
Henry County police officers were called to the brothers' residence on Deer Trace Drive in McDonough at about 2:41 a.m.
A friend of the brothers was spending the night. The teens somehow got their hands on a handgun in the home.
The gun was unloaded, but sometime during the evening one of the teens loaded the handgun, according to the Henry County Police Department. At some point, the 14-year-old reportedly pointed the gun at his 15-year-old brother and pulled the trigger. The bullet hit the older brother in the chest, killing the teen, according to police.
In a news release to CBS Atlanta, police stated the shooting was ruled accidental, but the case is still under investigation.
