Homicide investigators with the Atlanta Police Department want to identify three people as part of an investigation into a local homicide. Video from surveillance cameras uncovered the persons of interest when detectives canvassed the area.
Atlanta police say the double shooting at a southwest Atlanta tattoo shop left one man dead and a second man critical.
The shootings happened shortly after 6 p.m. Jan. 16 inside Tattoos and Piercings on Lee Street Southwest.
Detectives told CBS Atlanta News both men appear to work at the shop.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man who died as Anton Johnson, 39, from Atlanta.
Detectives said the man who was shot in the chest and survived is in his mid-20s. Police have not released his name.
A bystander who did not want to be identified told CBS Atlanta News he knew one of the victims.
"I was good friends with him, real, real, real close. All of us were like close friends," the bystander said.
Police activity isn't uncommon in this area. Just last Friday, Officer Reggie Robinson was shot in the face while investigating a drug deal on Ralph D. Abernathy. He's recovering in the hospital.
CBS Atlanta News learned police have been called to the area more than two dozen times in the last year.
"You never know what's going to happen. It's like you can be here today and gone tomorrow, just to be honest," said the bystander.
Police are still investigating why the men were gunned down.
Detectives want to indentify and speak with the three individuals in the surveillance video about the investigation. Police did not indentify the people as suspects. They are persons of interest.
Anyone with information on the three people in the video is asked to call Atlanta police homicide investigators at 404-546-4235 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
