A boy whose father and uncle were murdered more than a decade ago is now a curious teenager with questions about what happened in his Marietta home.
It's what sparked Marietta Detective Shane Merritt to plea to the public for help in solving the cold case.
Abdur Rahim Robinson, 24, and his half-brother Yasiah Robinson, 20, were found shot to death inside the home they shared on Stokes Avenue on Jan. 6, 2001.
Abdur Rahim Robinson's mother, Imecca Wright, went to the home after she hadn't heard from him in two days. The doors were locked, so she climbed through an unlocked window to find the two young men had been murdered.
"The killer may have actually locked the door on their way out," said Merritt.
Merritt told CBS Atlanta News he believes someone who was inside the house saw something before leaving.
"It's been very hard not knowing," said Wright.
Wright told CBS Atlanta News the murderer left her oldest son's 5-year-old son without a father.
"Over the years he's looked at photographs and asked questions about his father," said Wright. "Now he's 18 years old and he's asking more questions about the murders."
Merritt is familiar with the case from his rookie days. When he made detective four years ago, he asked to take it on.
"When you do a cold case, it's important to know the victimology. You learn about the family members, who they are," said Merritt.
Detectives still aren't releasing a lot of the details on the murders.
"But the brothers were not known troublemakers," said Merritt.
Anyone with information is asked to call Merritt 770-794-5324 or the tip-line 770-794-6990.
