Atlanta nonprofits to merge operations

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (AP) -

Two Atlanta nonprofits are joining forces to help the needy.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday that Action Ministries and Feed the Hungry Foundation will merge.

Action Ministries' CEO, John R. Moeller Jr., says the merger will combine the statewide reach of his group with the resources of Feed the Hungry to expand hunger initiatives.

Feed the Hungry will become a program of Action Ministries and will be known as Action Ministries' Feed the Hungry program. Combined, the operation will have 64 staffers.

Feed the Hungry has no connection to Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, which was founded by civil rights leader the Rev. Hosea L. Williams.

Founded in 1977, Feed the Hungry Foundation provides more than a million meals annually in Atlanta and much of north Georgia.
