The tragic death of four young children in a house fire in Conyers has many parents wondering what they can do to protect their children if their home catches fire.
The U.S. Fire Administration offers ways to be prepared for a fire.
First, check your smoke detector's batteries immediately.
Next, start working on a family fire escape plan. Practice it with your children. Make sure your plan has two ways out from each room. The first option should be the door. Make sure your children know to stay low to the ground as they leave the house. Also, make sure they know where to meet you outside the house.
The Fire Administration said the most important thing for your children to know is to get out of the house and not go back for any reason.
