Voters in Fulton and Cherokee counties pick new state senator

FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA/AP) -

Voters in State Senate District 21 selected Republican Brandon Beach to be their next senator.

Beach won more than 57 percent of the votes over fellow Republican Sean Jerguson.

Beach will fill the Senate set left vacant when Chip Rogers resigned last month to take a job with Georgia Public Broadcasting.
