MARIETTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Safety and security concerns are now paramount in the minds of educators and law enforcement across the country.
On Thursday at Marietta High School, officers walked school administrators and teachers through what a police response would look like if an active shooter entered the school.
Officers covered the entire spectrum of information from how officers would secure a classroom to how the wounded would be treated.
"Security is becoming now in the world of education probably the number one priority of educators and administrators," said Thomas Buresi, who teaches French at the school.
The seminar was conducted by school resource officers who said they believe the teaching teachers how to respond is crucial in preparing schools for the worst of circumstances.
"It can't be predicted when this type of incident will take place," Officer Adam Gravitt said. "It just happens, but it's always good to have the mindset and in the event that it does happen, you're prepared."
Both school administrators and police said they're planning a full-scale drill on Jan. 15.
