ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Starting tomorrow, Deering Road in northwest Atlanta will be closed to all through traffic for six months.
Why is this a huge ordeal?
First, it is a huge ordeal because it's a major cut through between Peachtree Street and Northside Drive, sandwiched between Midtown and Buckhead.
Second, it's a huge ordeal because it's home to the Amtrak station. The bridge that the station is sitting on is over 50 years old and is failing. It will be reconstructed during the road closure.
Drivers will need to detour using Collier Road or 17th Street in Atlantic Station.
