SANDY SPRINGS, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Jan. 1 is a day of new resolutions for many families to get fit.
But for one family, their commitment to healthy living started a few weeks ago.
CBS Atlanta first told you about the Mackins family as they started training for the Commitment Day 5K.
Today, the training paid off. Parents Eric and Andrena Mackins, along with three of their children put on their running shoes and ran together in the rain.
Their goal was to cross the finish line and commit to an exercise routine in 2013.
"I didn't think I was going to make it in the rain," said Andrena Kilgore-Mackins. "But we did it and it was great. And this is the start of a new year. Who can do this and not finish the rest of the year on a good workout regimen?"
The Commitment Day 5K was held simultaneously today in 25 cities across the U.S. Organizers say it's not a race, but a day for families to commit to healthier lifestyles.
