DUNWOODY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Dozens of crates were stolen from a pet rescue group in DeKalb County.
The pricey crates were taken from Park Pet Haven Rescue in Dunwoody. They used them to show dogs at a local Petsmart store in hopes of adopting the animals out.
They say someone stole 35 to 40 of their crates that were located behind a fence in the back of the store.
The crates cost an average of $50 a piece and the group estimates the total loss to be around $3,500.
Dorease Schairrick, who works with the group said, "We do about six adoptions a weekend, and that means six dogs we can't get out of a shelter because we can't bring them up here to be shown."
The group says they have about 60 pets in their care. They are accepting donations to help replace their stolen crates.
