ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
An Atlanta man celebrated his 106th birthday Saturday. Family and friends of Charlie Surry threw him a birthday party in Southwest Atlanta.
Surry said he came from very humble beginnings. He spent 19 years of his life working in farming, plowing fields. He said while he has lived a long life, he never thought he would live to see a black president.
When it comes to the secret of his longevity, Surry said, "Well, to tell you the truth, I just try to treat everybody right, don't get mad and I don't dance, so I don't try," Surry says he just always tries to do the right thing.
