Wind Advisory through 10 PM Wednesday
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Hold onto your hats! A strong, west-northwest wind will blow colder, drier air into Metro Atlanta throughout the day Wednesday.
A wind advisory is in effect for all of north Georgia, including Metro Atlanta, through 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
A wind advisory means that a sustained wind of at least 20 mph, or gusts to 35 mph or stronger are expected.
Experts suggest using caution when driving high-profile vehicles, especially along north-to-south oriented roads.
Furniture and other loose objects might also be thrown around. And with wet soil from the recent rain, some trees and tree limbs might fall.
One tree fell early Wednesday morning onto East Andrews Drive in the Buckhead community. Work crews from Atlanta's Parks and Recreation Department worked quickly to clear the roadway before the morning rush.
Another large tree fell onto North Rock Springs Road near East Morningside Drive in northeast Atlanta, bringing down power lines as it fell. Georgia Power crews were trying to restring the lines at daybreak Wednesday.
