A Cobb County school bus driver is accused of sex crimes against a child.
Police say Freddie Bates may have molested a member of his own family.
The charges Bates faces are alleged to have happen before his employment with Cobb County schools, but some worry there might be more victims because he worked so closely with kids.
Bates was arrested on Dec. 17 at his home on Clay Road in Austell, and he's charged with crimes including two counts of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, rape, child molestation and incest.
All of the charges are felonies.
Neighbor Richard Kinnard was surprised to hear about Bates, but he reserves judgment until Bates sees his day in court.
"We should wait until we actually see the facts of the case and when they come out if he's guilty send him to prison," said Kinnard. "Send him to prison for a long time."
Bates became a bus driver late last year. A school district spokesperson told CBS Atlanta News via email that Bates was hired in September 2011, and that the arrest had nothing to do with his job or the school district. The email continued saying Bates is on administrative leave as termination processes proceed.
Even though Kinnard is withholding judgment, he still has questions.
"With all of those charges they have to have some witnesses or actual victims," said Kinnard.
Bates has a probable cause hearing on Jan. 3, and he's being held at the Cobb County jail without bond.
