Scene in Duluth
DULUTH, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Police have arrested a man who is accused of running over a Clayton County police officer with his truck.
U.S. Marshals arrested Thomas Paige, 36, on Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex on Club Drive in Duluth.
Police said it all started when Clayton County police officers responded to a report of a burglary in the parking lot of an old K-Mart building off Old Dixie Road near Frontage Road on Dec. 12.
After the officers got to the parking lot, one of the suspects took off running and Officer Michael Hooks chased after him.
Police said Paige, the second suspect, jumped into a truck and ran over Hooks, seriously injuring him.
Paige then crashed the truck, took off and wasn't spotted until his arrest.
U.S. Marshals were in the process of bringing Paige to the Clayton County Police Department on Wednesday afternoon.
Police did not release his specific charges.
