Fulton County commissioners held a re-vote for topics including a cell phone ban, animal shelter improvements and jail locks.
The re-vote was held Wednesday because one commissioner arrived late to the Dec. 12 meeting.
At that meeting, commissioners were unable to get an accurate vote.
During the meeting on Wednesday the commissioner voted to extend the contract for the current animal control vendor.
The contract is month to month for up to six months.
Commissioners also voted to use $5 million reserves to replace the locks at the Fulton County Jail.
Sheriff Ted Jackson made the following comments in reference to today's vote:
"We are appreciative for support from the commissioners to protect inmates and employees from harm due to the situation with the locks. We understand the thoroughness of reviewing the need for the locks and the commissioners' concern for increasing the safety and security of the Fulton County Jail. The new locks will protect employees and establish a safe environment for inmates and visitors to the facility. This also helps the County comply with the Consent Decree."
There has yet to be a vote on the cell phone ban.
Commissioner Robb Pitts said the current statewide ban on texting while driving is not enough and does not work. He wants a law in Fulton County as soon as possible.
CBSAtlana.com will have updates on the cell phone ban vote.
