ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Atlanta police said one of their officers was involved in a shooting on Peachtree Street late Tuesday night.
Police said an off-duty officer heard shots fired in the 1300 block of Peachtree. The officer was working an event at 1374 Peachtree. The event had just ended and people were exiting the building. The officer said he saw a man firing toward a group of people.
Police said the officer confronted the man and fired several shots at him. The suspect got away in a car.
A half-hour later, a man went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police said it's unclear who shot him. Before the shooting, an altercation took place at the event.
As police investigate, the officer is on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
