PAULDING COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Paulding County detectives arrested a 48-year-old in connection to a murder-for-hire plot.
Melissa Bennett Silvers was arrested at Lost Mountain Academy Daycare and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Silvers was a teacher at the day care.
Undercover agents said they were contacted by Silvers in reference to a plot to kill her ex-husband.
Silvers and her ex-husband had been divorced since January 2012, but he allowed her to live in his house because of their adopted children, according to deputies.
Silvers spent time discussing the details with an undercover agent. They eventually met on Dec. 13 to agree on a price for the job, according to detectives. She paid the agent a portion of the agreed upon price.
She wanted the agent to pose as the firewood delivery person and shoot her ex-husband, according to sheriff's reports.
Silvers demanded that the incident to take place outside so there was no mess inside the home, according to undercover agents.
Silvers is currently being held in the Paulding County Detention Center with no bond.
