ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA/CNN) -
A 17-year-old from Minnesota diagnosed with osteosarcoma is using music to say goodbye to his family and friends.
Zach Sobiech was told by his doctors that he only has a few months to live.
Sobiech spoke with CNN about how he has turned to music as therapy.
In his interview, he said there have been times he tried to simply write letters to his family.
"I'm awful at writing," said Sobiech. "I can't sit down and write a letter, I've tried."
So instead Sobiech picked up his guitar to compose a song to say goodbye to the people he loves.
He feels this will help his family cope when he is gone.
Zack hopes his song will raise awareness to childhood cancer.
