COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Cobb County police are investigating a fatal accident that left one person dead.
It happened 7 p.m. Friday night at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill Road.
Investigators said a Chevrolet Impala was stopped in the right turn lane of Akers Mill Road to Cobb Parkway southbound and for an unknown reason the driver drove into the intersection. A Mitsubishi Montero traveling southbound on Cobb Parkway hit the Chevy and the Mitsubishi overturned. A Toyota Camry then also hit the Chevy.
Police said the man who was driving the Chevy was taken to the hospital, but was dead when he arrived. His name is not being released until the next of kin is notified. Investigators said he may have experienced a health issue that caused him to go into the intersection.
The driver of the Toyota declined medical treatment and the driver of the Mitsubishi was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
